Small Freedom Moves
Beneath The Floorboards
Healing isn't loud. It's not a viral before and after. It doesn't always come with tears or triumph. Sometimes healing is a whisper, a pause before reacting, a truth said softly, a night where your shoulders don't touch your ears. Welcome back to Beneath the Floorboards. This is the season finale of our first series, Secrets Families Vary.
And today we exhale. You've walked through a lot these last few episodes. Roles you never chose, loyalties that hurt, truths you couldn't say. But you're still here, still breathing, still listening. And that love is a move. Healing isn't always visible.
Sometimes it's just less reacting, more noticing, softer self-talk, laying down a loyalty that costs too much. It's in the side that escapes your chest when no one's around. It's the day you finally say that wasn't okay. And I don't have to keep pretending it was. These are your small freedom moves. Let's feel one now.
Place both hands over your belly. Take a deep breath, longer than you think you need. Inhale for four. Hold. Exhale for six. This is not a reset.
This is remembering. Your body is not the villain in your healing. It's the witness, the container, the communicator. And when you let it speak, you begin to come home. I think about everything, everywhere, all at once. A film about chaos and pressure and the pull to be everything for everyone.
But in the end, it wasn't some heroic transformation. It was choosing kindness, choosing love, choosing presence in the smallest, quietest moment. Or Bag Lady by Erykah Baidu. But healing was never about dropping it all. It's about learning which bag to set down first. What about that trusty journal piece of paper that you've been writing with?
Here are your invitations. Not tasks, not homework, just possibilities. And I got three of them for you. The first one. What does freedom look like in my body? Not the dream, but the now.
What does freedom look like in my body? Not the dream, but the now. Number two. What would one small act of honesty look like today with myself or someone else? What would one small act of honesty look like today with myself or someone else? And number three.
What am I ready to lay down even just for a moment? What am I ready to lay down even just for a moment? Write them, whisper them, or just feel them. And my affirmation for you. I do not need to heal all at once. I just need to notice, to breathe, to move one inch closer to myself.
Small freedom moves are still liberation. Tiny boundaries are still bold. And the whisper of truth is still truth. I'll repeat that for you. I do not need to heal all at once. I just need to notice, to breathe, to move one inch closer to myself.
Small freedom moves are still liberation. Tiny boundaries are still bold. And the whisper of truth is still truth. This closes our first series, Secrets Families Bury. This is where the healing starts to begin. Not in the big moments, but in the small freedom moves.
